New Delhi: In the 33rd match of IPL 2026, five-time champion Mumbai Indians suffered a humiliating defeat by 103 runs against Chennai Super Kings. This was Mumbai’s 5th defeat in the season. With this defeat, there has been an uproar regarding a replacement of Mumbai in the match, on which the team’s head coach Mahela Jayarvadhane has also given clarification. Not only this, it is being said about Mumbai that the team has cheated.
Actually, in the match against CSK, Mitchell Santner of Mumbai Indians got injured while trying to take a catch, due to which he had to leave the field. Santner took the catch, but suffered a shoulder injury. This incident happened in the 17th over of CSK’s innings, but now the question is arising that when Santner got injured in the shoulder, then why did the team take concussion replacement.
Shardul Thakur batted in place of Santner
After Mitchell Santner got injured, the Mumbai team demanded a concussion replacement. The team also got a replacement and Shardul Thakur came to bat in place of Santner. On this, the team’s head coach Mahela Jayarvadhane said that while taking the catch, Santner’s head also touched the ground and he was feeling unstable and dizzy, hence the team demanded a diagnosis of concussion.
Jayawardene said after the match, “I think first he got his head, then his neck and then his shoulder. He went for a scan because after coming back he was feeling dizzy, so he lay down. There was icing on his shoulder but he felt that he was not stable. We took him for a scan in that condition so we asked for a concussion.”
