Devajit Saikia on IND vs BAN: The Indian cricket team’s tour of Bangladesh was postponed last year due to the deteriorating political situation there. Now, after the arrival of the new government in Bangladesh and the new Cricket Board President Tamim Iqbal, the discussion about the restoration of bilateral cricket relations has intensified. However, BCCI Secretary Devjit Saikia made it clear that we will do whatever the government says.

New Delhi: The Indian cricket team was to tour Bangladesh last year, but it could not happen due to the deteriorating environment there. Now BCCI Secretary Devjit Saikia has given a big statement on Bangladesh tour in his latest interview. If Devjit Saikia is to be believed, BCCI will follow the guidelines of the Government of India before taking any decision on the Bangladesh tour.
Will India-Bangladesh cricket relations be restored again?
A new government has been formed in Bangladesh and the cricket board there has also got a new chairman in the form of former captain Tamim Iqbal, who is keen to restart bilateral cricket relations with India. When Saikia was asked whether BCCI’s stance would change now, he said:
BCCI is a cricket regulatory board and we have nothing to do with whatever is going on politically in other countries. The BCCI follows the Government of India guidelines regarding participation in bilateral and multinational sporting events, just like any other sports association does, be it football, athletics or any other sport.
Rohit-Virat’s future regarding 2027 ODI World Cup
In an interview to PTI, Saikia refused to discuss any kind of speculation about individual players and their future in the team. Saikia said that ‘strategic discussions taking place in the board room’ should be limited to internal matters.

Whenever there is any discussion about the ODI World Cup to be held in 2027, everyone wants to know about Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. People want to know what is the future of Rohit and Virat? Will both the legends get a place in the World Cup squad? In response to the question, Saikia made it clear that the preparations cannot be made public.
