Uthappa and Irfan have come face to face regarding whether Vaibhav Suryavanshi's batting will continue in the upcoming IPL or not.

New Delhi. Bihar's 'Wonder Kid' Vaibhav Suryavanshi has created a storm in the cricket world at the age of just 14, the echo of which is still being heard today. But before the start of IPL 2026, the debate between two legendary Indian cricketers Robin Uthappa and Irfan Pathan regarding this young sensation has heated up the temperature on social media. While on one hand Uthappa feels that Vaibhav's 'honeymoon period' is over, on the other hand Irfan Pathan has full confidence in his bat.

Robin Uthappa has made a big prediction regarding the future of Vaibhav Suryavanshi on Star Sports. Uthappa believes that IPL 2026 will not be as successful for Vaibhav as last year. Uthappa said, 'I have been keeping a close eye on every match of Vaibhav for the last 12 months. She is amazing, no doubt about it. But I think he is playing a bit too much on his luck. Now when the level of competition will increase and the bowlers will make special plans against them, difficulties will increase for them. Now their 'newness' has worn off. Uthappa believes that this season will be 'educational' for Vaibhav. According to Uthappa, Vaibhav will score runs, but will hardly be able to show the same dominance as last year.

'Consistency is the strength of Vaibhav'
On the other hand, Irfan Pathan did not seem to agree at all with what his teammate Uthappa said. Citing Vaibhav's consistently excellent performance, Pathan said that he has amazing self-confidence. Irfan argued, 'Even after IPL, wherever he played, he maintained the same pace of runs. If his graph was up or down, I would have been scared. But his innings of 175 runs in 80 balls against England in the final of the Under-19 World Cup shows what he is made of. I am sure that this season too he will definitely score at least one quick century or half-century.

How has Vaibhav's journey been so far?
Vaibhav Suryavanshi made his debut for Rajasthan Royals when he was just 14 years old. Breaking dozens of records, he scored 252 runs at a strike rate of 206.55. His 35-ball century against a strong team like Gujarat Titans is still counted among the most exciting innings in IPL history. After this, he played an important role in India winning the Under-19 World Cup and also established his dominance in domestic cricket for Bihar.
