21-year-old Danish Malewar made his IPL debut for Mumbai Indians (MI) against Gujarat Titans (GT) at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Monday. Even though Malewar could score only 2 runs in his debut match, he would definitely like to perform well in the next matches.
Born on 8 October 2023 in Nagpur, Danish is a right-handed top-order batsman and right-arm leg-break bowler. Malewar, known for his consistency in red ball cricket and aggressive intentions in the shorter formats, was signed by Mumbai Indians at a base price of Rs 30 lakh.

Danish Malewar’s journey started at City Gymkhana Academy under the supervision of coaches Swaroopraj Srivastava and Nitin Gawande. Malewar, who joined the academy at the age of just 7, soon became visible to everyone due to his discipline and determination. By the age of 12, he was representing the Vidarbha under-14 team.
Even after returning at 2 am from a tour, Malewar decided to play the U-14 final match the very next morning and scored a century in that match despite getting very little rest. Gradually progressing, he made his place as an important player for Vidarbha.
In the 2024–25 Ranji Trophy season, Danish played a key role in helping the team win the title. He scored 783 runs in 9 matches at an average of 52, which included two centuries and six half-centuries. He was the third player to score the most runs for the team.
Malewar is known for his calm batting. He focuses on handling the new ball and playing long innings. His patience can be gauged from the fact that in half of his innings played so far, he has faced 100 or more balls.
Danish Malewar is constantly improving his batting by learning from his idols like Sachin Tendulkar and KL Rahul, who aim to create a unique identity for themselves by mastering all types of shots.
