CSK gets replacement for Ayush Mhatre, old MI player comes to Chennai during IPL 2026

Chennai Super Kings has found the replacement for Ayush Mhatre. Chennai has included 32-year-old fast bowler Akash Madhwal in its team in place of Mhatre. Ayush Mhatre suffered a hamstring injury while batting in the match against Sunrisers Hyderabad, due to which he had to be out of the entire season. Madhwal will get Rs 30 lakh on joining CSK team.

Akash Madhwal bowls right-handed fast. He entered the IPL for the first time in 2019 as a net bowler for RCB. In the 2022 season, Mumbai Indians included him in their team as a replacement for Suryakumar. In the IPL 2023 season, he performed strongly for Mumbai Indians and took 14 wickets in 8 matches.

Akash Madhwal made headlines when Rajasthan Royals bought him in the IPL 2025 mega auction with a bid of Rs 1.20 crore. Strong bids were placed on him in the auction, but his performance was just the opposite. For Rajasthan, in the 2025 season, he was able to take only 4 wickets after playing 4 matches and also proved to be very expensive.

It can also be said that Chennai Super Kings needed a bowler more. Nathan Ellis was out of IPL 2026 even before the tournament started. Khalil Ahmed has also been out of the entire season due to injury a few days ago. In such a situation, the arrival of Akash Madhwal is good news for the Chennai team.

Well, with the arrival of Akash Madhwal and departure of Ayush Mhatre, the playing eleven combination of CSK is sure to change. Mhatre was opening the batting, while Akash is a bowler. Now the question has also arisen that who will open with captain Ruturajgaikwad.
