Sangakkara said, “My message to Vaibhav is very simple, enjoy everything. Be it 100 runs in 35 balls, 50 runs in 15 balls or getting out on the very first ball. You have the right to score runs and also have the right to fail. It is a part of cricket.”

Head’s clear message to Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who returned after being out for zero in the last match, to the team

New Delhi. Vaibhav Suryavanshi has become the biggest attraction of the 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL). This 15 year old player has attracted the attention of the entire country with his fearless batting. Be it the legendary bowlers of the league, he has beaten everyone badly. Vaibhav is in the headlines in the world’s biggest tournament. After getting out for zero in the last match, now more eyes are on him. Rajasthan Royals head coach and cricket director Kumar Sangakkara has advised Vaibhav to be cautious. He said that Vaibhav should enjoy his cricket without any pressure.

Speaking to Hindustan Times, Sangakkara said, “My message to Vaibhav is very simple, enjoy everything. Be it 100 runs in 35 balls, 50 runs in 15 balls or getting out on the very first ball. You have the right to score runs and also to fail. It is a part of cricket.”

Sangakkara also appreciated the hard work behind Suryavanshi’s rapid progress. He said, “Vaibhav is a very exciting young player. People talk about his talent, but they should also understand how hard he works in the nets. He reads the game well, reads the situations and makes good plans against the bowlers.”

Vaibhav Suryavanshi in IPL 2026

After his brilliant performance in the Under-19 World Cup, he was chosen Player of the Tournament. Suryavanshi also made a explosive start in IPL 2026. He scored 52 runs in just 17 balls in the opening match against Chennai Super Kings and showed what form he is in. His strike rate after five innings is more than 263. His fearless style was visible when he hit a six on the very first ball of Bumrah against Mumbai Indians. Even against Royal Challengers Bangalore, he hit consecutive fours and sixes off Hazlewood’s balls. In the last match against Sunrisers Hyderabad, he was out on the very first ball of Praful Hinge.

Sangakkara did not express any concern on this wicket. He said, “Opening in today’s T20 cricket means playing completely aggressively. He will learn everything gradually. For such players, sometimes it is better to say less. I want him to remain the same 15-year-old kid who goes on the field and bats with enthusiasm. That is how he will really progress. Low scores will happen to him and everyone else too, but I am very happy that Vaibhav is a part of our team.”
