Sarfaraz Khan created history in IPL, broke the record with his stormy innings

Chennai Super Kings team had lost 3 wickets for 30 runs against Royal Challengers Bangalore, from here Sarfaraz took the score to 77 without losing any wicket. During this period he faced only 19 balls. With this inning of his, a special record was also made in IPL. He became the first batsman in the IPL to score a half-century within the first six overs while batting at No. 4 or lower.

New Delhi. Chennai Super Kings team had to face its third consecutive defeat in the Indian Premier League 2026. After making a huge score of 250 runs, the Royal Challengers Bangalore team bundled out the opposition team for 207 runs in 19.4 overs. Even though Chennai team lost the match, Sarfaraz Khan created history in IPL. He did the feat of becoming the first batsman to score a fifty while playing at number four in the powerplay.
Sarfaraz Khan likes Chinnaswamy Stadium very much. In the year 2015, he played an unbeaten inning of 45 runs and took Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) to the score of 200/7. The match could not be completed due to rain. After 11 years, Sarfaraz once again returned to the same ground and made his second highest score in IPL. This time this innings was played against RCB.
Sarfaraz saved the honor of Chennai
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) got off to a shaky start in reply to RCB’s IPL history record 250/3. Their top three batsmen Sanju Samson, Rituraj Gaikwad and Ayush Mhatre together could score only 17 runs. In such a situation, Sarfaraz took the responsibility and scored a half-century at a strike rate of more than 200.

CSK covered the journey from 30/3 to 77/3 in just 19 balls, in which Sarfaraz’s innings was important. With this inning of his, a special record was also made in IPL. He became the first batsman in the IPL to score a half-century within the first six overs while batting at No. 4 or lower. This was Sarfaraz’s second IPL half-century against RCB. Earlier, he had scored his first half-century for Punjab Kings on 6 April 2019. This right-handed batsman completed his second half-century after 2,556 days on 5 April 2026. With this, he came second in the list of batsmen who took the most time between two IPL half-centuries.
Tim David, Rajat Patidar and Devdutt Padikkal took Royal Challengers Bangalore to a massive score of 250/3 against Chennai Super Kings. Padikkal (50) and Phil Salt (46) gave a strong start, after which Patidar (48*) and David (70*) batted brilliantly in the last overs. Padikkal took control of the innings and took RCB beyond 150 by the 15th over. The host team scored 97 runs in the last five overs, in which David and Patidar made an unbeaten 99-run partnership. CSK bowlers were seen struggling in the death overs and RCB maintained their dominance in Chinnaswamy.
