Can ICC take action on Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s fight?

New Delhi. A very exciting match was played in the tri-series between India A and Sri Lanka A. Batting first, India scored 265 runs and restricted Sri Lanka to the same score. The match was decided by super over. Here the host team set a target of 18 runs and India A failed to achieve it. Till now everything was fine but after the match was over, Vaibhav provoked Suryavanshi and his partner, after which the matter reached a fight.

While returning to the pavilion after the match was over, Vaibhav had a fight with the Sri Lankan player. Vaibhav and Suryansh were going to Shedge Pavilion when Sri Lankan player Vishan Halambage sledged them. There was a scuffle between Vaibhav and Vishan. After this the Sri Lankan players separated the two. According to ICC rule 2.12, a player cannot make inappropriate physical contact with any person related to the game. If the player does this intentionally then action can be taken against him. According to ICC rules, there should not be any physical fight during or after a cricket match. Although this was not an international match, hence ICC cannot take action.

In such a situation, the question was raised whether BCCI will take action against Vaibhav?

BCCI Secretary Devjit Saikia has reacted to this controversy while talking to Sportstar. He said that we have asked the players to focus on the competition. Their attention should not be distracted by any other problem. From the statement of BCCI Secretary, it seems that there is little possibility of BCCI taking action against Vaibhav. Vaibhav’s bat, which created a stir in IPL, is quiet in the try series. Vaibhav has scored 79 runs in 3 innings at an average of 26.33 and strike rate of 164.58. Vaibhav scored 14 runs in the first match, 44 runs in the second and 21 runs in the third.
