New Delhi. Former New Zealand all-rounder Doug Bracewell has been suspended for two years due to cocaine consumption. This matter came to light during the County Championship match in September 2025. Bracewell had already retired from international cricket. Bracewell admitted that he had consumed a prohibited substance. Bracewell told that he had consumed cocaine after the first day’s play and before the start of the second day. He also took two wickets on the first day. His sample taken on September 25 came back positive and he was informed about it the next month. By the end of December, Bracewell, 35, had announced his retirement. The cricket regulator, despite this, continued the disciplinary action and imposed a two-year ban, which will start from 24 November 2025 and will run till 23 November 2027. Bracewell has accepted this punishment.
