Doubt over Bangladesh players playing in Pakistan Super League
New Delhi. Pakistan Super League is facing setbacks after setbacks. Many players are leaving this tournament because of the Indian Premier League and now Bangladesh players are going to withdraw due to security reasons. Bangladesh's Minister of State for Youth and Sports Aminul Haq on Sunday made it clear that if concerns about security persist then Bangladeshi cricketers will not participate in the upcoming season of Pakistan Super League. The players are waiting for clear information from the Bangladesh Cricket Board before taking the final decision.
Speaking to Cricbuzz, Aminul said that the government will give priority to the safety of the players. Bangladesh will take any action only after receiving formal information from the Cricket Board. Aminul said, “If there is any concern about security in PSL, our cricketers will not go there. First of all, BCB will have to inform us and then we will take an official decision based on our investigation.”
He also said that the ministry is ready for the participation of players if adequate security assurance is provided. He said, “If the BCB assures us that there is no problem for our cricketers to go there, then we also have no problem. The BCB has to ensure what the players want, because we do not want to discourage the game and want everyone to play from their respective places. The BCB should consult us on all matters including security and if they ensure that everything is fine, then we can go ahead.”
PSL schedule also changed
This development comes after the Pakistan Cricket Board announced the revised schedule of PSL 2026. In this, matches will be held only in Karachi and Lahore without spectators under government strictures. Many players have already withdrawn their names from the tournament.
How many Bangladeshi players are named in PSL?
Six Bangladeshi players Mustafizur Rahman, Parvez Hossain Iman, Shoriful Islam, Nahid Rana, Tanjid Hasan Tamim and Rishad Hossain have been given No Objection Certificate (NOC) by BCB to play in the league. Now their participation depends on the final approval of the government.
