Nahid Rana out of test series against Australia.
New Delhi. Bangladesh cricket team has suffered a big setback before the Australia tour. Nahid Rana, one of the fastest bowlers of the team, has been ruled out of the two-match Test series due to injury. Questions also remain over the fitness of experienced batsman Liton Das and fast bowler Shoriful Islam. In such a situation, Bangladesh’s problems have increased before this important tour, which is part of the ICC World Test Championship (WTC).
Nahid Rana out due to side strain
Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has confirmed that Nahid Rana will not be able to play the two-Test series against Australia. He suffered an injury on his left side during the second T20 match against Zimbabwe. Grade-2 side strain has been confirmed in the scan. Doctors have estimated his recovery time to be 6 to 8 weeks. In such a situation, it is not possible for him to be completely fit till the Australia tour.
Decision still pending on Liton Das’s fitness
The availability of star wicketkeeper-batsman Liton Das is also not decided at the moment. After an injury to the calf of his left leg, he went to Singapore to consult a specialist doctor, where he was given platelet-rich plasma (PRP) treatment. Liton will gradually start running and fitness training from July 28. The final assessment of his fitness will be around August 13. There is a possibility of him playing in the second test after getting medical clearance.
Shoriful may also remain out of the first test
Fast bowler Shoriful Islam is also recovering from injury. He suffered a grade-1 hamstring injury during the Zimbabwe series. He will start bowling from 29th July and his fitness test will take place around 12th August. It is considered difficult for him to play in the first Test, but if he completes the entire bowling workload and gets medical clearance, then he can return in the second Test.
Test series will start from August 13
The two-match Test series between Bangladesh and Australia will be played in Darwin from 13 to 17 August. After this, the second and final test will be held in Mackay from 22 to 26 August. This series is part of the ICC World Test Championship. However, due to continuous injuries, Bangladesh may face difficulties in fielding its best team. On the other hand, Australia will try to take advantage of this situation and make a strong start in home conditions.
