Entire Punjab Kings Team Fined: The IPL Governing Council has fined Punjab Kings, the team which registered its second consecutive win in the Indian Premier League. Captain Shreyas Iyer has been found guilty of violating the IPL code of conduct. A fine of Rs 6 lakh has been imposed on the players included in the playing eleven while a fine of Rs 24 lakh has been imposed on the captain.

New Delhi. Punjab Kings (PBKS) captain Shreyas Iyer has been found guilty of violating the code of conduct of the Indian Premier League (IPL). This is the second consecutive match in which he made this mistake. On Friday, his team defeated Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in Chepauk. Iyer was fined for maintaining a slow over rate in the last match against Gujarat Titans (GT). This time also the same mistake was repeated against CSK. Due to this, the IPL Governing Council took strict action against the Punjab captain.
“Punjab Kings captain Shreyas Iyer has been fined. His team maintained a slow over-rate in Match No. 7 of the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 against Chennai Super Kings at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai. This is his team's second offense this season. This comes under Article 2.22 of the IPL Code of Conduct. This involves a violation of the minimum over-rate,” the IPL said in a statement after the CSK and PBKS match. Iyer has been fined Rs 24 lakh. The remaining members of the playing XI (including the impact players) will be fined Rs 6 lakh or 25 percent of their match fee, whichever is less.
How Punjab Kings beat Chennai Super Kings
On the basis of captain Shreyas Iyer's half-century innings, Punjab team defeated Chennai by five wickets. Chennai's young batsman Ayush Mhatre scored the highest by scoring 73 runs in 43 balls. Batting first, CSK made a partnership of 96 runs for the second wicket between Mhatre and Ruturaj Gaikwad (28 runs in 22 balls). Sarfaraz Khan played brilliant shots, scoring 32 runs in 12 balls, while Shivam Dubey scored unbeaten 45 runs in 27 balls. Chennai had scored 209 runs at the loss of 5 wickets, which Punjab achieved in 18.4 overs and registered its second consecutive win in the season. Iyer scored 50 runs in 29 balls.
