Actually, Mhatre was batting very well, despite this the Chennai Super Kings management decided to retire him. Shivam Dubey came to bat in his place, who scored 20 runs in the last overs playing 10 balls. Mhatre had scored a strong half-century, yet the fans are furious over the decision to retire him.
Usually a player is retired out when he is not scoring runs. But Mhatre had scored 59 runs in 36 balls. However, before being retired out, Mhatre had scored only single runs on the last 3-4 balls. But Ayush Mhatre, who had settled on the crease, could have changed gears in the last two overs, but he was forced to return in the 18th over without any wicket falling.
This was Ayush Mhatre’s second fifty of the season and he is counted among the strong contenders to win the Orange Cap this time. Should Sanju Samson have been retired?
Before Ayush Mhatre was retired, Sanju Samson had also not made many special shots. At one time he had scored 89 runs in 42 balls, but from here he wasted 10 balls in completing his century. Shivam Dubey, who came to bat in place of Ayush Mhatre, scored 20 runs in 10 balls.
