According to the report of Bollywood Hungama, the makers have made preparations to bring 3 Idiots back to the theaters after 17 years. This film will be re-released in theaters on 4 September 2026. The rights of this film of Vidhu Vinod Chopra have been acquired by NH Studioz under the huge catalogue.

There will be a clash with ‘Mirzapur: The Movie’
On the same day when 3 Idiots will hit the theaters again, Ravi Kishan, Pankaj Tripathi and Ali Fazal’s film ‘Mirzapur: The Movie’ is also coming on the big screen. In such a situation, it will not be easy for the Three Idiots to survive. A week after this, Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan’s film ‘Haivaan’ is also going to be released.
Three Idiots was a blockbuster
Three Idiots was released on 25 December 2009. This is the story of three friends, which was directed by Rajkumar Hirani and produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra. Along with Aamir Khan, Sharman Joshi and R Madhavan also played lead roles in the film. Famous actresses like Kareena Kapoor Khan, Boman Irani, Omi Vaidya, Parikshit Sahni and Mona Singh were also a part of it.
According to the report of Bollywood Hungama, the budget of this blockbuster film was Rs 55 crores. It collected Rs 12.78 crore at the Indian box office on the first day. Whereas its total earning in the opening weekend was recorded at Rs 40.65 crore. The 17-year-old film was a huge hit, earning a total of Rs 202.95 crore in India, while its worldwide collection was around Rs 400 crore. Re-release happening amid Sonam Wangchuk controversy
