New Delhi: Indian cricket team's fast bowler Mukesh Kumar will play for Delhi Capitals in IPL 2026. Mukesh spoke to journalists after the training session at Arun Jaitley Cricket Stadium. During this, he gave a big statement about his bowling as well as the legendary Mohammed Shami. Mukesh acknowledged the important role of experienced Shami in the development of his bowling skills and said that this veteran player keeps guiding him continuously.
He said, “I learn a lot from him.” He has been playing for India for many years and is still performing brilliantly. Whenever I am in trouble or things are not going well, I go to him and ask questions. He always helps me.'' The Bengal fast bowler had a brilliant 2025-26 domestic season, in which he impressed with his disciplined bowling and ability by taking more than 30 wickets across all formats.
Mukesh's performance for Delhi last season was average.
Mukesh last represented India in an ODI against South Africa in late 2023. Since then he has been trying to make a comeback in the team by focusing on the process rather than results. He said, “I don't think too far ahead about the World Cup or big tournaments. My focus is on what I have to do today, how to improve in practice, what new variations I can add and how to prepare against different batsmen.
In the IPL, Mukesh took seven wickets in 10 matches for Delhi Capitals last season and often took the responsibility of bowling in the last overs. However, his performance was mixed. The 30-year-old bowler said that he is constantly working on accurate bowling, especially yorkers and variations to suit T20 cricket. He said, “Whether it is a yorker or a wide yorker, you have to keep improving. Circumstances and match situation demand you to adapt yourself.
