His record of total 314 runs remains unbroken even after 54 years.
Before Lawrence Roe, this record was in the name of England's Reginald Erskine Foster (RE Foster). In the year 1903, Foster created a stir in his very first match against Australia at the historic ground of Sydney. He played a huge inning of 287 runs in the first innings. Although he could score only 19 runs in the second innings, his total of 306 runs in the match put him in a league where reaching is still a dream of any young player.
