Chaiti Chhath 2026 Sandhya Arghya Time: Chhath Mahaparva is considered to be the most difficult fast of Hindu religion. In this, the devotees keep a waterless fast for 36 hours. Chhath Puja, a great festival of faith associated with the worship of Sun God and Chhathi Maiya, is celebrated twice a year. It is celebrated as Chaiti Chhath in the month of Chaitra and Kartiki Chhath in the month of Kartik.
This year, Chaiti Chhath Puja has started with Nahay Khay on 22 March 2026. Today i.e. 24th March is the third day of the four-day Chaiti Chhath. After observing fast today, the devotees will offer Arghya to the setting sun. Chhath is the only festival when even the setting sun is worshiped by offering Arghya. Today, fasting women and men will observe Nirjala fast and immerse themselves in waist-deep water and offer prayers to the Sun God and pray for the happiness, prosperity, health and long life of their children.

On the third day of Chhath festival, i.e. today, March 24, 2026, in the evening, the devotees will reach the river, pond, lake or ghat and stand in waist-deep water and offer Arghya to the Sun God. During this time, thekua, fruits, sugarcane, coconut, kasar, banana and other worship materials are offered in bamboo soup. The tradition of offering Arghya to the setting sun is performed at the ghats amidst the songs of Chhathi Maiya and an atmosphere of devotion. Today many people have started making arrangements to offer Arghya in water tubs etc. in the courtyard or terrace of the house.
There is a tradition of offering Arghya mainly to the last rays of the Sun on the evening Arghya. According to the almanac, the time of sunset today will be 06:34 pm. Arghya can be offered to the Sun around this time. However, there is a slight difference in the time of sunset in different cities, so know the time of Arghya according to your city.

After offering Sanghya Arghya, Chhath Mahaparva will conclude with offering Arghya to the rising Sun in the morning on the fourth day i.e. Saptami Tithi of Chaitra Shukla Paksha. After this the crossing will be done.
