When will Pat Cummins join Sunrisers Hyderabad? Good news brought about the team captain

New Delhi. IPL 2026 will begin on March 28 with the match between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. Hyderabad team will have to play its first match without its captain Pat Cummins. Cummins is currently recovering from his back injury. In the absence of Cummins, the command of the team has been handed over to star wicketkeeper batsman Ishan Kishan. Ishaan was recently a part of the Indian team that won the T20 World Cup 2026, where he performed brilliantly. Along with him, Abhishek Sharma will play the responsibility of vice-captain of the team. Even though Cummins will not play the first match, a big update has come regarding his joining the team.

When will Cummins join the team?
The good news for the fans of Hyderabad is that Cummins is going to come to India very soon. He has got the green signal from Cricket Australia (CA) to play in IPL. According to reports, he will join his team on March 24, although he will not be able to play the first match. Cricbuzz report said, 'Pat Cummins will reach Bengaluru on March 24 before IPL 2026. Stand-in captain Ishan Kishan for the team's first few matches will attend the captains' meeting to be held in Mumbai on March 25.

Captains of all 10 teams will attend this meeting. There will be a photo session in the afternoon, followed by a detailed interaction with Board of Control for Cricket in India officials and broadcasters from 4:30 pm to 6 pm.

Another good news for Hyderabad is that the Sri Lanka Cricket Board has given NOC to fast bowler Ishan Malinga for IPL 2026. However, the board has not clarified the status of Navan Thushara, Wanindu Hasaranga and Mathisha Pathirana. These three players are still waiting for NOC. An official of Sunrisers Hyderabad said that Ishan Malinga will join the team on March 24. He will reach Hyderabad with his compatriot Kamindu Mendis. Mendis has already got the nod.
