India vs Ireland t20 series: World champion India will play a series of T20 international matches in Ireland before the white ball cricket tour of England in June. Ireland's High Performance Director Graham West confirmed the series with India while announcing Paul Stirling's decision to step down from T20 International captaincy.

New Delhi. Before the white-ball tour of England, India will go to Ireland for a T20 series in June. Ireland's High Performance Director Graham West confirmed this series when he announced Paul Stirling's decision to step down as T20 captain. India will play one Test and three ODIs against Afghanistan till June 20. After this, India will play five T20s and three ODIs in England from July 1 to July 19, while the Ireland series will take place before the England series.
Graham West said that this series with India is part of his summer plans. West said in a statement, 'Paul Stirling stepping down as T20 captain after qualifying for the 2028 T20 World Cup gives the new captain an opportunity to bring his own style and work, starting with the series with India in June.'

India has visited Ireland thrice in the last seven years (2018, 2022 and 2023). Stirling will continue to captain Ireland in ODIs and said that he is ready to contribute in all formats.
Ireland's veteran cricketer Paul Stirling has taken a big decision to step down from the captaincy of the T20 International format. Sterling looked emotional while leaving the post and described it as the biggest honor of his career. Sterling said it is a privilege to lead his country and he is extremely grateful for the trust and support he has received to carry out this responsibility. However, after Ireland's disappointing performance in the T20 World Cup 2026, he decided to step down from the role.
Future plans and command in ODIs Ireland's journey in the T20 World Cup was not as per expectations, where they had to face defeats against Sri Lanka and Australia. Although they won against Oman, their last match against Zimbabwe was canceled due to rain. Despite leaving the captaincy, Sterling will remain fully committed to T20 cricket as a player. Along with this, he will continue to lead Ireland in One Day Cricket (ODI) and will strengthen the team as a senior player.
