Digi Yatra Travel Issue: Digi Yatra app, which was created to provide fast and easy entry at the airport, is now becoming a cause of trouble for some passengers. Especially identical twins are facing problems in this system. This app, which works on face recognition technology, is sometimes not able to differentiate between the faces of twin brothers and sisters. Due to this, one of the two passengers has to go through manual checking instead of fast-track entry.
Recently, two twin brothers from Ahmedabad have demanded a solution to this problem from the Civil Aviation Ministry. In such a situation, let us know how the entry of the twin brothers got stuck at the airport.
How did the twin brothers’ entry get stuck at the airport?
Twin brothers Sanjeev Chhajed and Rajeev Chhajed, residents of Ahmedabad, often travel by air. He says that whenever the two travel together, Digi Yatra’s face recognition system does not recognize them properly. In such a situation, the fast-track entry of one of the two gets stopped and he has to undergo manual identity verification. Regarding this problem, both the brothers have written a letter to the Union Civil Aviation Ministry demanding a permanent solution.
Where is the problem facing Digi Yatra?
According to Sanjeev Chhajed, Digi Yatra’s system is recognizing his face as Duplicate or Repeated Processing Attempt. He believes that because the faces of the two brothers are very similar, the face recognition algorithm is not able to identify them correctly. They have requested the Ministry to examine whether the face recognition system for identical twins requires additional security or a separate identification process.
When did the problem surface?
Sanjeev told that on July 10, he was traveling from Ahmedabad to Delhi by Indigo flight. While checking-in through Digi Yatra, a message of Too Many Access appeared on his mobile. His brother Rajeev also got the same error. After this, both of them had to face similar problems at the security check center of the airport.

Manual investigation had to be done instead of fast-track.
Both the brothers say that despite pre-registration in Digi Yatra, the airport staff sent one of the two brothers to a separate line and got the identity checked manually. According to Sanjeev, the purpose of Digi Yatra is to avoid long lines and save time. But if every time one travels together, one has to leave the line and get checked separately, then the very purpose of this facility is defeated. However, till now no such complaint has officially reached the airport operator. He says that this matter can be investigated only at the ministry level.
Other twins are also facing the same problem
Keya Patel and Hiya Patel, 24-year-old twin sisters from Ahmedabad, also told that when they travel together, they often face the same problem in Digi Yatra. According to their mother Trupti Patel, her daughters no longer use Digi Yatra at all. Almost every time one of the two gets stopped by the system and then has to go to the manual line. Keya and Hiya say that when they travel separately, there is no problem in Digi Yatra. He believes that the problem arises when both try to pass through the face recognition gate together. In such a situation, the system is not able to recognize both the faces separately. He has also demanded the authorities to investigate this technical problem and improve the face recognition system.
