Batting first in this match, England had scored a strong score of 201 runs for 7 wickets in 20 overs, thanks to Phil Salt’s brilliant and struggling half-century. In reply, the Indian batting, which came to chase the target of 202 runs, fell apart like a pack of cards. Indian batsmen could not stand against the lethal bowling of England’s fast bowlers Josh Tong (4/28) and Joffra Archer (3/29) and the entire team was reduced to just 76 runs in just 11.4 overs.

South Africa had given deep wounds to India in the Super-8 round of the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup held this year. South Africa had a very bad start in that match and lost 3 wickets for 20 runs. But making a brilliant comeback from there, the Proteas team scored 187/7. In reply, the Indian team was reduced to just 111 runs in 18.5 overs and India had to face its third biggest defeat of 76 runs.
51 run defeat against South Africa
Just before the World Cup, South Africa had defeated India badly in the second T20 match of the bilateral series played in New Chandigarh in December 2025. Thanks to Quinton de Kock’s stormy innings of 90 runs, the visiting team scored 213/4. In reply, the Indian team looked helpless in front of the shear bowling of Otniel Bartman (4/24) and lost the match by 51 runs after being bundled out for 162 runs in 19.1 overs. This is India’s fourth biggest defeat.
Defeated by 50 runs against New Zealand
The New Zealand team was on a tour of India in January 2026 in connection with the preparations for the 2026 T20 World Cup. In the match played in Visakhapatnam, Kiwi opener Tim Seifert played a brilliant inning of 62 runs in just 36 balls, taking his team to a huge score of 215/7.
