Banarasi Tomato Chaat Recipe: If you have ever eaten the famous tomato chaat available in the streets of Banaras, then you would hardly have been able to forget its sweet-sour and spicy taste. Completely different from common chaat, this dish is prepared with tomatoes and boiled potatoes. The special thing is that onion and garlic are not used in traditional Banarasi Tomato Chaat, yet its taste is so wonderful that people of all ages like it. To make this chaat, first choose ripe red tomatoes. The more juicy and sweet the tomatoes are, the better will taste the chaat. Along with this, keep ready boiled potatoes, green chutney, sweet tamarind chutney, red chilli powder, roasted cumin powder, black salt, chaat masala, green chilli, green coriander and some ghee. Add peas and cook on medium flame
First of all, heat some ghee in a pan and add chopped tomatoes to it and cook on medium flame. When tomatoes become soft and start releasing their juice, then add mashed boiled potatoes to it. Now add red chilli powder, chaat masala, black salt and roasted cumin and mix well. After cooking for a few minutes, the mixture will become slightly thick and the taste of all the spices will dissolve well in it.
What to do to taste sweet?
If you like light sweet taste, then you can add some sugar and mix it with roasted cumin seeds, this makes the taste of chaat even more balanced. After this, turn off the gas and take out the prepared mixture in a serving bowl.
How will Banarasi style mix?
Now comes the turn to give Banarasi style to the chaat. Add green chutney, sweet tamarind chutney and a little melted desi ghee over the prepared mixture. Then on top, you can add salty mixture or salt powder, finely chopped green coriander and if you wish, you can also add a little lemon juice.
