WhatsApp New Feature: WhatsApp, which is facing difficulties in India regarding the username feature, has started preparing for another new feature. This is going to be a simple, but very important feature. According to reports, these days WhatsApp is working on a feature with the help of which users will be able to know which of their WhatsApp contacts are online. This feature is already present on Meta’s other platforms like Instagram, Facebook and Messenger etc. In this, a green dot appears in front of the names of online active users. Now this feature can be rolled out on WhatsApp also.
There will be no need to open chat
After the introduction of this feature, the user will not have to open any chat to check whether the other contact is online or not. They will see a green dot below the contact’s profile picture. This would mean that the other person is currently active on the app. If the dot is not visible it would mean that it is not active on the app. However, initially this feature will be visible only on the contact info page. The page that opens after tapping on someone’s profile photo on WhatsApp is the contact information page and initially a green dot will be visible on it. It is believed that in future it can also be made available on chat list or conversation screen.
What will happen to privacy?
Once the Green Dot feature is available, there will be no impact on privacy. Users will have the option to show or hide it like before. If you want that no one can see your online presence, then you can hide it by going to settings. This will work just like the existing online status. If it is already visible then the green dot will also remain visible. If you have disabled it then the green dot will also follow this setting.
New feature will come for both Android and iPhone
Let us tell you that this feature was first spotted for Android and now its testing has started on iPhone also. It is being estimated that this feature can be rolled out in the next few weeks. It is expected to be available to iPhone users first. However, nothing has been said regarding this from the company side.
