New Delhi. Anvay Dravid, son of great Indian player Rahul Dravid, playing for India Under-19 team, scored 87 runs in the second Youth ODI match against Sri Lanka Under-19 on Monday. The wicketkeeper-batsman hit 1 six and 9 fours in this innings of 67 balls, but the team lost the match. Thanks to this brilliant innings of Anvay Dravid at the Mahinda Rajapaksa International Cricket Stadium, the Indian team made a huge score of 285 runs, but Sri Lanka won the match with 8 wickets remaining. The Indian team had won the first match by 4 wickets, but now the three-match series is tied at 1-1. The last match of the series is to be played on this ground on 9th July. After this, two unofficial test matches will be played from July 13.
In this match played in Hambantota, the Indian team, after winning the toss and coming to bat, was reduced to 285 runs in 47.2 overs. The visiting team had lost the wickets of both the openers by the score of 11. After this, Kushagra Ojha took charge of the team by making a partnership of 67 runs in 81 balls for the third wicket with VK Vineet.
Anvay Dravid became ‘Deewar’
Vineet was out after scoring 24 runs in 45 balls with 4 fours, after which Anvay Dravid came out to bat and along with Arjun Rajput scored 144 runs in 126 balls for the fifth wicket. Arjun was out after scoring 76 runs in 81 balls with 10 boundaries, while Anvay contributed 87 runs to the team’s account. From the Sri Lankan camp, Gimhan Mendis took the maximum of 5 wickets for 41 runs in 8.2 overs, while Kavija Gamage took 2 wickets. One wicket went to Sethmika Seneviratne.
Dimantha spoils Anvay’s hard work
In reply, the Sri Lankan team won the match in 48 overs. This team suffered an initial blow in the form of Dulnith Sigera (14) on the score of 25. After this, Dimantha Mahavithana laid the foundation of victory by making a partnership of 103 runs with Senuja Vekunagoda for the second wicket. Senuja returned to the pavilion after scoring 60 runs in 64 balls with 2 sixes and 4 fours, after which Dimantha made an unbroken partnership of 163 runs in 135 balls for the third wicket with captain Vimath Dinsara, giving the team an easy victory. Captain Dinsara remained unbeaten on 56 runs in 60 balls with 3 fours, while Dimantha played an unbeaten inning of 155 runs in 153 balls with 5 fours and 12 sixes. From the Indian camp, Ishan Sood and captain Yashvardhan Chauhan took 1 wicket each.
