Iceland Cricket made fun of coach Gautam Gambhir
New Delhi. Since taking over the responsibility of head coaching of the Indian team, many shameful defeat records have been added to the name of Gautam Gambhir. Be it a clean sweep against New Zealand for the first time at home or a defeat in an ODI series in Sri Lanka after a long time. Now a clean sweep in the T20 series against a team considered light like Ireland. Just hours after Team India’s humiliating defeat, Iceland Cricket on Monday (June 29) took a dig at India’s head coach Gautam Gambhir on X (formerly Twitter).
In this post which went viral on social media, Iceland Cricket quipped that they are not planning to include Gambhir in their coaching staff. It was also written that the star-studded Indian team needs special talent to do a “worthy” task like defeating the series against Ireland.

When is your next tour to India?
Just three months after successfully defending the T20 World Cup title, India reached Ireland to play a two-match T20I series under the captaincy of Shreyas Iyer. The team had to face defeat in both the matches. India lost the first match by 34 runs in Belfast, while Ireland won the second T20I by 1 run in a rain-affected match on Sunday. Indian bowlers performed well in both the matches, but the batting completely faltered.
Many big names including captain Shreyas Iyer and T20 World Cup 2026 Player of the Tournament Sanju Samson failed to make an impact throughout the series. After becoming only the second Indian captain to lose his opening two T20Is in a row, Iyer will now be desperate to make a comeback in the five-match T20I series against England.
India will leave for England tour at the end of this week. The first T20I will be played at the Riverside Ground in Chester-le-Street on July 1, while the second match will be played at Old Trafford on July 4. The remaining 3 T20Is will be played on 7, 9 and 11 July in Nottingham, Bristol and Southampton.
