Shedge’s brilliant performance in Sri Lanka
Shedge has been called into the team after his impressive performance for India A in the recently concluded tri-series in Sri Lanka. Batting in the middle order, 23-year-old Shedge scored 147 runs in five matches and also bowled 23 overs. He was a key player for Mumbai in the 2024-25 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy winning team, where he scored 131 runs in the lower middle order and had a strike rate of 251.92. Reddy had to fill in for Hardik Pandya, who also has quadriceps problems and is not in a position to bowl 10 overs in ODIs.
Perfect replacement for Nitish Reddy
According to the medical bulletin, ‘Nitish Kumar Reddy is out of the Ireland series. MRI revealed swelling and fiber disturbance in the left quadriceps. They have been asked to report to the COE for further investigation. It is believed that it will take at least four weeks for Reddy to recover completely and the recovery time may increase, only after that he will be able to start the ‘Return to Play’ protocol. 23-year-old Reddy has so far played 10 Tests, 6 ODIs and 4 T20Is for India. He played two ODIs in the Afghanistan series and missed the second match in Lucknow. Bowling coach Morne Morkel had earlier said that the injury did not seem serious, but now the matter has become more serious. Many believe that Reddy increased his speed from 120 kmph to 130 kmph by working with fast bowling coach Stephen Jones, but the opposite effect was that his body could not adjust to the sudden increase in speed.
