According to the survey, 70 percent of full-time working parents said that they do child-related work even while working. At the same time, 59 percent people said that despite spending time with children, they have to do job-related work. Today, due to mobile phones, email and online platforms, work is not limited to any one place. Office work is reaching home and home responsibilities are reaching the office. In such a situation, parents are constantly stuck between two different responsibilities.
The report also revealed that there are many responsibilities of the family which are not visible, but it takes a lot of mental energy to handle them. Like keeping an eye on children’s school activities, scheduling doctor’s appointments, remembering important documents or taking care of household needs. According to the survey, 62 percent working mothers said that it is difficult to maintain a balance between job and family. Whereas only 47 percent fathers feel this way. It is clear from this that the burden of mental and family responsibilities is more on women.
