Old Smartphone: Nowadays, almost every person has some old smartphone lying in his house. Many people throw away the old device at home after buying a new phone. However, some people make some money by selling old phones. But even today there are most people who still do not want to sell their old smartphone. The reason behind this is not less money but the data present in the phone. Many people feel that their data can be stolen from old phones.
Data privacy is a big reason
According to a survey conducted by Cashify, about 70 percent of Indians are hesitant in selling their old smartphones because they fear misuse of their personal data. In this survey conducted on 8,000 people, about 75 percent of the participants believe that the data of the old phone can fall into the wrong hands or can be misused. Let us tell you that nowadays people store many sensitive information like banking details, passwords, photos, videos, chats in their smartphones. In such a situation, this concern of the people is considered natural.
Data security has become more important than price
The survey also revealed that when people decide to sell their old phone on any platform, their priority has changed. About 45 percent people said that they give first importance to data security and privacy whereas for only 29.5 percent people, getting the highest price is important. This clearly shows that now people are more concerned about their privacy and data.
Reliable data deletion system
The survey revealed that customers are not only expressing concern but also want solutions. About 69 percent people believe that if the facility of verified data deletion is available on any resale platform, then people’s trust will increase more. On the other hand, more than 83 percent people believe that it is very important to get a data deletion certificate while selling the phone. This certificate will confirm that the phone’s data has been completely securely and permanently erased. The interesting thing is that more than half of these people are ready to pay additional charges for such a facility.
