Monty Desai becomes head coach of Canada
Toronto: Cricket Canada has appointed Monty Desai as the head coach of its national men’s team. The Canadian team participated in the T-20 World Cup this year. After Monty’s appointment, it is believed that Canada has now become more conscious and serious about ICC events. Monty Desai has vast experience of working with the Associate Member countries of the International Cricket Council (ICC) and various franchise leagues including the IPL.
Who is Monty Desai?
Monty Desai is a well-known and experienced name in world cricket coaching, who has the experience of handling big responsibilities in both international and franchise cricket. Monty Desai’s full name is Mrugang Jagadish Desai, he was born on 28 May 1974 in India. From the first season of IPL i.e. from 2008 to 2015, he was associated with Rajasthan Royals as a talent scout and performance coach. The credit goes to Monty Desai for giving recognition to unknown faces like Praveen Tambe and Sanju Samson. In his coaching career, he has worked with Afghanistan, UAE, Canada and West Indies teams. Cricket Canada President Arvinder Khosa said:

Nepal got qualified for Asia Cup and World Cup
Monty Desai has been the head coach of Nepal between 2023 and 2025, who qualified the team for Asia Cup and T20 World Cup. In franchise cricket, he is known as ‘Talent Hunter’. Overall, Monty is one of those coaches who enjoys working behind the scenes with the team and players.
