Heart Fights Cancer: We often know the heart as just a pump, which keeps pumping blood throughout the body day and night without stopping. The heart of a normal human being beats approximately 1 lakh times every day, but now something different has come to light in the new discovery of scientists. According to new research, this continuous heartbeat not only helps in maintaining life, but it can also protect against dangerous diseases like cancer.
It may be surprising to hear this, but it is true that heart cancer is very rare, whereas cancer is common in other parts of the body, the heart somehow remains protected from it. Scientists were trying to understand this mystery for a long time and now they have found a big reason for it.
How is the heart protected from cancer?
Heart cells are formed and changed very rarely. Generally, where cells are formed faster, the risk of cancer is higher, but this is not the case in the heart. Despite this, the absence of cancer in the heart was a big question. Now scientists believe that the reason for this could be the continuous hard work and pressure of the heart. The heart pumps blood all the time, due to which a special kind of mechanical stress is created in it. This pressure can stop cancer cells from growing. In a new study, it has been revealed that the continuous movement of the heart changes the behavior of cancer cells, due to which they are not able to grow rapidly.

What is the new research?
To understand this mystery, scientists conducted a unique experiment on rats. He transplanted a heart into the neck of a rat. Blood was reaching this transplanted heart, but it was not working as hard as a normal heart, that is, the beating pressure in it was low. After this, scientists inserted cancer cells into both the hearts. In which one was a normal, beating heart and the other was a transplanted heart with low pressure. Its results were very shocking. In the heart which was beating normally, cancer cells could not grow, but in the heart which was under low pressure, tumors started forming easily. This made it clear that the heartbeat itself acts as a defense system against cancer.
What is the role of genes and proteins
Scientists further found that this is not just external pressure, but it also goes inside the cells and affects their genes. A special protein Nesprin-2 plays an important role in this process. This protein transmits external pressure to the center (nucleus) of the cell. There it changes the activities of genes. When this protein works properly, cancer-related genes are slowed down and cells are unable to grow. When scientists switched off this protein, the situation changed. Cancer cells started growing rapidly again. Tumors started forming even in the beating heart. This proved that this entire system is an active defense mechanism.
