Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) won by 9 wickets against Delhi Capitals (DC) in the 39th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 on Monday. RCB captain Rajat Patidar credited his bowlers for the victory, especially fast bowlers Josh Hazlewood and Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who laid the foundation of the victory with their lethal bowling during the powerplay.
In this match played at Arun Jaitley Stadium, Josh Hazlewood took 4 wickets for just 12 runs in 3.3 overs against DC, while Bhuvneshwar Kumar took 3 wickets for just 5 runs in 3 overs. With the brilliant performance of these bowlers, RCB won the match with 81 balls remaining after bowling out DC for 75 runs in 16.3 overs.

At the conclusion of the match, Patidar said, “I was also surprised by the way the wicket behaved. Full credit goes to the bowlers, the way they bowled, especially in the powerplay – Hazlewood and Bhuvi. I think the way they bowled in the right places and got a bit of swing in the beginning, it was really great to see.”
When Rajat Patidar was asked whether the swing was more than normal, Patidar replied, “I think the swing was normal. The good thing was that we got early wickets. That’s why we managed to maintain our grip in the match. Of course, I think if you are playing T20 cricket on a flat pitch, you should have a great bowling unit. That’s because only one bowler can win you the championship.”
Talking about the bowling plans, the RCB captain said, “We had already planned that if we get early wickets, we will have three overs from each bowler. And then we saw how the wicket was behaving, then the way Suyyash and Sheppy (Romario Shepherd) bowled. I think they bowled in the right places. Suyyash also bowled, I think he got a lot of spin, I was That’s what I would say, but the way he bowled stump-to-stump, I think it was really nice to see.”
As the tournament is heading towards its crucial stage, Patidar stressed the need for discipline and maintaining one’s routine, saying, “It is very important to follow one’s routine because you know there is still a long way to go, but I think we are just focusing on one match at a time. The good thing is that different players are coming forward and performing well for the team. I think it is a good sign for us.”
