Amidst the West Bengal Assembly elections 2026, one name suddenly came into limelight, IPS Dr. Ajay Pal Sharma. The Election Commission has given him the important responsibility of election duty in Bengal. In the last few days, his strict working style and clear message have given sleepless nights to many influential people of the area. Especially after a case related to Falta Assembly seat, the discussion about Dr. Sharma has intensified.
The matter came to light when local people complained that voters were being intimidated and pressurized at some places. As soon as the complaint was received, Dr. Ajay Pal Sharma himself reached the spot with his team. The leader whose name was appearing was not found there at that time. Even from the nearby people and the local police, correct information about his house could not be obtained. After this, Dr. Sharma started a search operation and finally reached the house where he had to go.
After reaching there, he gave a clear message that if anyone tried to intimidate or put pressure on the voters, strict action would be taken as per the law. His stance quickly became a topic of discussion in the area. People saw this as a serious attempt to maintain law and order during the elections.
Dr. Ajay is an ‘encounter specialist’
The name of Dr. Ajay Pal Sharma is not new. As a 2011 batch IPS officer of Uttar Pradesh cadre, he has been in the news many times before. He is known as ‘Encounter Specialist’. But his identity is not only that of a strict police officer, but also of a highly educated and hardworking officer.

Very few people know that before joining police service, Dr. Ajay Pal Sharma had made a career in the medical field. He studied BDS i.e. Bachelor of Dental Sciences. He has also worked as a professional dentist. That is, he has treated people’s teeth and later showed the teeth of the law to criminals.
His studies were excellent from the beginning. He topped high school in his home state. The special thing is that he had got full marks in mathematics. His sharp mind and hard work always kept him ahead in studies. After completing his medical studies, he changed the direction of his career and started preparing for civil services.

Dr. Ajay Pal Sharma belongs to Ludhiana, Punjab. Coming from an ordinary family, he made a place in the prestigious services of the country on the basis of education and hard work. Presently he is posted as Additional Police Commissioner in Prayagraj Commissionerate. Along with this, they have also been given special responsibilities at the time of elections.
