New Delhi. Royal Challengers Bangalore registered their sixth win in IPL 2026 by defeating Delhi Capitals by 9 wickets in a low-scoring match. RCB registered a big win in 81 balls. Batting first at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, the Delhi team fell apart like a pack of cards. Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Josh Hazlewood completely destroyed Delhi’s top order with their fiery balls, from which the team could not recover and collapsed for just 75 runs. After this, RCB achieved the modest target of 76 runs in just 6.3 overs. Virat Kohli sealed the victory by hitting two consecutive sixes. With this win, RCB has 12 points and the team is at second place in the points table. On the other hand, this is Delhi’s 5th defeat in 8 matches, due to which it is at eighth position.
Bhuvi-josh storm came before the dust storm
There was a dust storm in the Delhi ground during the first innings, which disrupted the ongoing game. However, before this the batsmen had to face the storm of Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Josh Hazlewood, in front of whom no one could stand at the crease. Delhi Capitals, who came to bat first after losing the toss, witnessed a fall of wickets, due to which their innings was reduced to just 75 runs. Delhi Capitals could play only 16.3 overs.
Smallest total in IPL powerplay.
At the very beginning of the match, Bhuvneshwar gave a big blow to Delhi by bowling Sahil Parakh on a tremendous yorker ball. Sahil Parakh was out on the second ball of the match. Sahil could not even open his account in the first match of his IPL career. After this there was a fall of wickets. The situation was such that the host team had lost 6 wickets till the score was only 8. Bhuvi and Hazlewood bowled two overs each of their quota and completely silenced the Delhi camp by taking three wickets each. Delhi team’s score in powerplay was only 13/6, which is the smallest total made by any team in the first 6 overs. It seemed that Delhi would break the record of RCB’s smallest total (49 runs) today, but David Miller and Abhishek Porel averted the danger of the team making this shameful record. David Miller tried to handle the team by making a partnership of 35 runs in 31 balls for the seventh wicket with Abhishek Porel.
Delhi was all out for its lowest Test total
A dust storm started in between and the match had to be stopped for a few minutes. However, all the players remained on the field. After some time the fight started again. Miller was out on the last ball of the 9th over. He played an inning of 19 runs in 18 balls with 3 fours, after which Abhishek took charge and scored 30 runs in 33 balls. Apart from him, Kyle Jamieson contributed 12 runs to the team’s account. For RCB, Josh Hazlewood took 4 wickets for 12 runs, while Bhuvneshwar Kumar took 3 wickets. Rasikh Salam Dar, Suyyash Sharma and Krunal Pandya took 1-1 wicket. 75 runs is Delhi’s third lowest IPL total.
Big guns like Rahul-Nitish failed
KL Rahul, who scored a historic century against Punjab Kings, and Nitish Rana, who had explosive batting, also looked defeated in front of the RCB fast bowler attack. Both of them were dismissed by Hazlewood. Both were able to add only one run each. Apart from these, hero Sameer Rizvi also did not play for the first two matches for Delhi. His account was not even opened. Tristan Stubbs walked out after scoring 5 runs. Captain Akshar Patel’s account was also not opened.
RCB won the match easily
RCB, chasing an easy target, won the match in just 6.3 overs. Jacob Bethel made a partnership of 26 runs with Virat Kohli in 2.5 overs. Bethel returned to the pavilion after scoring 20 runs in 11 balls with 2 sixes and 1 four. After this, Devdutt Padikkal made an unbroken partnership of 51 runs with Kohli in 22 balls and gave an easy victory to the RCB team. Kohli remained unbeaten on 23 runs in 15 balls with 2 sixes and 1 four, while Padikal played an unbeaten inning of 34 runs in 13 balls with 3 sixes and as many fours. The only success from DC came to Kyle Jamieson.
Virat Kohli completed 9000 IPL runs
Veteran batsman Virat Kohli registered his name in golden letters in the pages of history during this match. He has become the first player in the world to score 9000 runs in IPL. Before this match, he needed only 11 runs to complete 9000 runs. He crossed this magical figure by taking one run on the last ball of the sixth over of Royal Challengers Bangalore’s innings. This was Virat Kohli’s 275th IPL match. To reach this huge peak of 9000 runs, Kohli played a total of 6732 balls.
