How To Check Egg Freshness: Egg is considered an excellent source of protein and is an important part of the diet of most people. But sometimes it becomes difficult to understand by looking at the eggs whether they are still fresh or spoiled. In such a situation, people often find out the condition of the egg only by breaking it. However, there is an easy method with the help of which you can find out the freshness of the egg without breaking it.
Actually, the date written on the box of eggs does not always tell how fresh the egg is. Sometimes this is just the date of packing, while in some cases a best-by date is given. If you have kept the eggs out of the box or bought them from a farm, then it becomes even more difficult to estimate their age.
Water test will tell the truth
The easiest and popular way to check the freshness of eggs is the float test. For this you will need only a bowl and cold water. First of all, fill the bowl with enough water to completely submerge the egg. Now slowly drop the egg into water and observe its behaviour. If the egg goes straight down and lies at the bottom of the vessel, then understand that it is absolutely fresh. If the egg reaches the bottom but stands up or appears slightly tilted, it is a few days old but is considered safe to eat. If the egg starts floating on the surface of water, then it should not be used. This is a sign that the egg has become very old and the possibility of spoilage has increased.

Why does this happen
According to experts, with time, air starts entering through the microscopic holes present in the egg shell. As the amount of air increases, the air pocket inside the egg becomes larger. This is the reason why old eggs float in water, while fresh eggs sink.
Can be identified even after breaking
Even if you have broken the egg, it is easy to recognize its freshness. The white part of a fresh egg appears thick and slightly sticky, while the white part of an old egg appears thinner and watery. Apart from this, the yolk of a fresh egg is round and raised.
The smell also gives signals
Bad eggs can also be identified by their strong sulfur like smell. If a rotten smell comes as soon as the egg is broken, it should be thrown away immediately. Remember, eggs should always be stored in their original container in the refrigerator. Properly stored eggs remain safe for a long time and their quality also remains intact.
