RCB captain Rajat Patidar won the toss and invited Gujarat Titans to bat first. GT had an amazing start and Shubman Gill and Sai Sudarshan made a century partnership for the first wicket. Both the openers together added 128 runs in 12.4 overs. Gill was seen playing the role of anchor, while Sai Sudarshan batted in an aggressive manner. Gill became the victim of Suyyash Sharma after scoring 32 runs in 24 balls. However, Sudarshan continued his brilliant batting and completed his century in 57 balls. Playing at a strike rate of 172, Sudarshan played a brilliant inning of 100 runs in 58 balls. In this innings he hit 11 fours and 5 sixes. During this century, he also made the record of completing 2000 runs in the fewest innings in IPL. Sudarshan broke Chris Gayle’s record.

At the same time, Jos Buttler, who came to bat at number three, contributed 25 runs while facing 16 balls. Washington Sundar remained unbeaten after scoring 19 runs in 12 balls.
