South Africa’s experienced spinner Imran Tahir has made a name for himself across the world with his game. Today these players are an inspiration for many youth. Born in Lahore, Pakistan, Imran Tahir played international cricket for South Africa.

This right-handed leg-spinner was born in Lahore province of Pakistan. Because of his brilliant game, he got a place in the Pakistan Under-19 cricket team. His dream was to play in the senior team but he did not get the chance.

Recalling his difficult times, this South African spinner narrated the story of his struggle. He told how during his first job he used to mop floors and clean toilets. This spinner had told this story during the commentary in the 2023 ODI World Cup. The current coach of the Indian team, Gautam Gambhir was then a part of the commentary panel with him.

Imran said, “That was my first job. In England, I had to wake up in the morning and clean the floors. After that, I would also clean the toilets. That was my job. I have no shame about it, but am very proud. I learned a lot while working there. It was ingrained in my mind that the day I get a chance, I will not let it go, because the hard work I am doing today has a purpose.”

After hearing this, Gautam Gambhir had said, “There are very few people in the world who feel proud of this kind of work. No work is small or big. Money can be earned only through hard work. One should move forward only through hard work, not in any other way.”

How was Imran Tahir’s career: In his international career, Imran has played 20 Tests, 107 ODIs and 38 T20 matches for South Africa. He has taken 57 wickets in Test, 173 in ODI and 63 in T-20.

Imran Tahir got citizenship of South Africa after marrying Sumaya Dildar in 2005. The way was cleared for him to play international matches on behalf of this team. Imran Tahir impressed for South Africa in the ICC World Cup. He retired from international cricket after the ODI World Cup in 2019.
