- Jio and Vi plans are slightly cheaper options than Airtel.
Airtel Prepaid Plan Price Hike: The country’s largest telecom company Airtel has increased the price of one of its popular prepaid plans. The special thing is that despite the increase in the price, the benefits of the plan have been kept exactly the same as before, due to which many users are looking a little disappointed.
Rs 859 plan now available at Rs 899
Airtel’s 1.5GB daily data plan with 84 days validity will now be available for ₹899 instead of ₹859. The company implemented this change quietly but users soon noticed it. Although no official reason has been given by the company, it is believed that this step has been taken to increase the company’s earnings i.e. to improve ARPU.
What benefits changed?
Despite the increase in price, the benefits available in this plan remain the same as before. In this, users get unlimited calling, 100 SMS daily and 1.5GB high-speed data every day. In this plan which lasts for 84 days, after the data is exhausted, the internet speed reduces to around 64 Kbps.
Rs 799 plan discontinued
In another major change, Airtel has discontinued the ₹799 prepaid plan which used to offer almost the same benefits but came with a validity of 77 days. Now users are left with two options, either take the plan of ₹ 619 which has a validity of 60 days or choose the new plan of ₹ 899 which has a validity of 84 days.
Competition from Jio is a bit tough
After this change, Reliance Jio has emerged as a slightly cheaper option. Jio’s 84 days 1.5GB daily data plan is available for ₹889 which is ₹10 cheaper than Airtel. Although this difference is not very big, it can become a reason for those users who are already thinking of changing the network.
If you are also a user who needs more internet daily and also want to avoid frequent recharge, then Jio’s ₹ 1799 plan can become a strong option. The biggest feature of this plan is that 3GB high-speed data is given every day, so that you have less worry about running out of internet.
The validity of this plan is also quite long. Once you recharge, you get this facility for full 84 days. This means that you will not need to recharge again and again for about three months.
Talking about calling, this plan provides the benefit of unlimited free calling on local and STD networks. This means that you can call anywhere in the country without any extra charges. Apart from this, Jio also provides messaging facility in this plan. Users get 100 free SMS every day so that they can easily chat and send important messages.
Vi’s 84 day plan
Vodafone Idea (Vi) offers several prepaid plans to its customers with a validity of 84 days, which have been designed keeping in mind different needs. In these plans, users get options for calling, data and entertainment as per their budget. If you are a user who mostly uses Wi-Fi and requires less mobile data, then the plans of ₹ 470 and ₹ 509 may be suitable for you. A total of 6GB data is available in these plans along with unlimited calling, which is sufficient for light usage.
At the same time, for those who need a little more data every day, the ₹ 859 plan becomes a better option. In this, 1.5GB data is available every day and access to many OTT platforms is also given. Apart from this, Hotstar subscription for one month is also included which makes it attractive in terms of entertainment.
