Digital Arrest AI Chatbot Abhay: In view of the rapidly increasing cases of cyber fraud in the country, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is going to launch a new AI chatbot Abhay. This chatbot will be introduced on April 20, the purpose of which is to help people identify fake notices and protect them from scams like digital arrest.
On which occasion will it be launched?
According to media reports, this special initiative will be launched by Surya Kant during the DP Kohli Memorial Lecture organized at Bharat Mandapam, Delhi. This program is organized in the memory of the first director of CBI, Dharmanath Prasad Kohli.
What will Abhay Chatbot do?
This AI based chatbot will help common people to understand whether a notice is real or fake. Nowadays, fraudsters send fake documents in the name of government agencies to scare people and extort money from them. The aim of Abhay is to eliminate this fear so that people can get correct information without any fear and can avoid fraud.
How does digital arrest scam work?
These days, cyber criminals are targeting people very cleverly. They send fake notices through email or social media in which government seal and legal language are used. After this the victim is told that his name is linked to some major crime like money laundering or drugs case. By creating an atmosphere of fear, he is kept on video call and is made to believe that he is under digital arrest. He is then forced to immediately transfer the money on the pretext that this will avoid arrest.

According to reports, so far around Rs 54,000 crore has been defrauded in the country due to such cyber fraud. This figure shows how fast cyber crime is increasing and how much new technology is needed to deal with it.
