Why did BCCI fine Shreyas Iyer?

The Governing Council of IPL announced a financial penalty on the captain of the Indian ODI team the next day of the match. This penalty has been imposed by the Punjab team for maintaining a slow over rate in the match. “Punjab Kings (PBKS) captain Shreyas Iyer has been fined as his team maintained a slow over-rate against Gujarat Titans (GT) in Match No. 4 of the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 at the New International Cricket Stadium, New Chandigarh. Unlike previous years, now Shreyas is not in danger of being banned for committing multiple crimes. BCCI has changed the guidelines from the beginning of the 2025 season. Rishabh Pant and Hardik Pandya (who faced a ban in the first match of 2025) were given suspension in the 2024 season.
