PCB fined Naseem Shah
New Delhi: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Monday imposed a heavy fine of Rs 2 crore on fast bowler Naseem Shah for posting satirical tweets. This is the biggest fine ever imposed on any player in the history of Pakistan cricket. Along with this, PCB considered Naseem Shah's tweet as a violation of the clause of his central contract.
The PCB announced that the board's disciplinary committee had found Naseem guilty of violating the terms of his contract and behaving irresponsibly when posting tweets on his social media accounts. Naseem then landed in trouble and was issued a show cause notice on March 27.
Naseem Shah took a jibe at Maryam Nawaz
The incident occurred soon after Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz arrived as the chief guest at the inaugural match of the 11th season of the Pakistan Super League at the Gaddafi Stadium. A few minutes later, Naseem made a tweet in which he made sarcastic comments about the Chief Minister of Punjab. The board said that Naseem had replied to the show cause notice and had also tendered an unconditional apology for his behaviour, but the disciplinary committee found him guilty of indiscipline.
The board said, “Naseem's response has been reviewed by the committee and after evaluating everything, it has been determined that Naseem has violated several terms of his central contract and he has been fined Pakistani rupees 20 million.” It was also reported that Naseem Shah has already removed his social media consultant and the PCB will 'blacklist' him so that he cannot work with any player under the PCB's jurisdiction.
