The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced the release of a new syllabus for classes 9 to 12 for the academic session 2026-27. The purpose of this change is to make students' education more easy, understandable and practical. According to the board, the new syllabus for classes 11 and 12 has come into effect from April 1, 2026, while the syllabus for classes 9 and 10 will be released on April 2, 2026. CBSE has said that this time the syllabus has been prepared according to the National Education Policy (NEP) and National Curriculum Framework 2023 (NCF-2023).
How will the new syllabus be?
In the new syllabus, more emphasis has been given on learning by understanding rather than memorizing. In this, priority has been given to skill development of children, experience based education and practical learning. This will help students to learn things that are useful in real life along with studies. CBSE has informed about organizing a special webinar on April 2, 2026 to explain the new syllabus of Class 9. This program will be held at CBSE Headquarters, Dwarka (Delhi) at 3 pm and can also be watched online. In this webinar, teachers and school management will be informed in detail about the new changes.
These instructions were given to schools
All schools have been instructed to download the complete syllabus from the official website of CBSE and share it with teachers, students and parents. Besides, schools have also been asked to complete the necessary preparations in time to implement the new curriculum. CBSE has also made it clear that all schools will have to strictly follow the new guidelines. In this curriculum, special attention has been given to flexibility, activity based learning and holistic development of the students.
What will be the benefit to the students?
Apart from this, school heads have been advised to make parents aware about these changes. For this, it has been asked to organize a special parent-teacher meeting (PTM), so that everyone can understand the new system better. Experts believe that this change will make the education system more modern and student centric. This will improve students' ability to think, understand and solve problems. Overall, this new curriculum of CBSE has been prepared keeping in mind the future of the students, so that they will be able to get better and useful education.
