Shubman Gill expressed displeasure over injured players

New Delhi: On the England tour, the Indian team captained by Shubman Gill suffered a humiliating 2-1 defeat in the ODI series. The third and deciding match of the series was played at Lord’s. After the defeat in this match and the series, captain Shubman expressed his concern about the fitness of the players and gave a strong message. Shubman clearly said that players not being fit even in a three-match series is a serious matter.

Let us tell you that even before the start of the England tour, Team India suffered a big blow when all-rounder Hardik Pandya was out of the series due to quadriceps (thigh muscle). Hardik suffered this injury at BCCI’s Center of Excellence, where he was recovering from a back injury. Nitish Reddy was included in the team in place of Hardik, but a few hours before the departure of the team, he also complained of thigh injury. The list of injured players became longer when Harshit Rana and Washington Sundar got hamstring during the England tour. After this, Jasprit Bumrah could not play in Lord’s ODI due to knee injury.

What did Shubman say for the injured players?

After losing the series against England, captain Shubman Gill said, “If you look at our team which was selected initially, at least five players were not playing today’s match. When one player is injured, you have to play with a different combination. If two are injured, then another different combination has to be adopted. I think if one player is being dropped after every match, then we are making a mistake somewhere.”
