Changes decided in Mumbai Indians for IPL 2027
New Delhi: After the shameful performance in the Indian Premier League 2026, the Mumbai Indians team has already started its preparations for the upcoming season. The team is going to review everything, from the captaincy to the coaching staff. Five-time IPL champion Mumbai Indians proved to be a failure in the last two seasons despite the presence of stars like Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, Suryakumar Yadav and Hardik Pandya. In such a situation, now the team is taking steps towards making a new beginning.
According to the report of ‘Times of India’, Hardik Pandya’s leave from Mumbai Indians has been decided. Hardik has been captaining the team for the last two seasons, but the franchise has deteriorated under his leadership. Hardik Pandya was traded by Mumbai to Gujarat Titans by spending huge amount. Hardik, while captaining Gujarat, made them champions in his debut season and also took them to the finals twice in a row, but his shine faded as soon as he came to Mumbai.
Bumrah-Tilak may get captaincy
If Hardik Pandya is removed from the captaincy of the team, then the names of two players are coming to the fore in the leadership role. According to media reports, the names of Jasprit Bumrah and Tilak Verma are leading in the race for captaincy. However, there is some doubt about Bumrah. Due to injury related problems, Bumrah may lag behind Tilak Verma in the captaincy race.
Apart from this, the names of Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav are also expected to be discussed, but there is little possibility that both of them will be crowned captain. Apart from this, the Mumbai Indians team is also preparing for a major reshuffle in the coaching staff, in which the head coach can be changed.
