Christopher Nolan reveals secrets related to ‘The Odyssey’, calls India special, wants to work with this Indian filmmaker

There is a lot of buzz these days about Christopher Nolan’s film ‘The Odyssey’. A special screening of this film was done in Mumbai, after which the star cast of the film and the film’s director Christopher Nolan interacted with the media. At the same time, he answered some questions in a press conference, in which Nolan made many revelations related to ‘The Odyssey’.

Why can you watch The Odyssey?

When Nolan was asked that he has made many great films, what is the most special thing about ‘The Odyssey’ that the audience should go to see? To this, Nolan replied, ‘I think the most special thing about ‘The Odyssey’ is its scale, because I think every film we have made had its own challenges, but this film had much more challenges. We shot at different locations, there were very complex and huge sets everywhere, whatever film we make. There is at least one big scene in it which takes a lot of time.

Nolan said, ‘It was difficult to think about how it would be shot, but there were many such scenes in it and every time we finished a scene like that, it felt great. But then it also felt like I had to do another big scene next week, but I had an amazing cast, an amazing crew and these people made this experience very fun and easy.

Why did Nolan come to India?

When Christopher Nolan was asked why he came to India for the premiere of his film, he replied, ‘It was very easy for me to choose India, for the first time when I came to Mumbai years ago, my friend Shivendra had brought me to a conference on the future of films. There I met many filmmakers and learned about the film culture here. I have not been to any other place in the world where films are liked so much and the audience accepts films in this way, so I felt that our films must be premiered here in Mumbai and Mumbai is special.

Nolan shared his experience

After this, Christopher Nolan was asked that he has inspired many people in India to watch movies in IMAX, so how was his experience of working in India and how special are the Indian IMAX fans for him? In response to this question, Nolan said, ‘I had two experiences working in India, one regarding work and one regarding Mumbai and both were wonderful. He said that whoever comes to this city and sees this city from a new perspective, he has a lot to do as a filmmaker.

He further said, ‘You see beauty everywhere, you see a lot of things everywhere, you see textures, it is a lot of fun to work with the local crew here and this time we were shooting in IMAX, we have shot the entire film in IMAX, we were not able to do this before, but this time we were able to do it, so we want to shoot films in the best possible way in different places of the world, where the audience can go and enjoy those films on these big screens. We want to give them a great experience.

Matt Damon wants to work with Shekhar Kapur

Apart from this, Matt Damon was also asked an interesting question in this press conference that if he had to work with any Indian filmmaker, with whom would he work? His reply to this was, ‘That filmmaker is Shekhar Kapur. I remember that for some reason I could not do Four Feathers with him. Because of that I was very upset and since then she has been on my list. I want to work with him. For twenty years I have been wondering when I will work with him.

Overall, Christopher Nolan seemed very excited about the premiere of his film ‘The Odyssey’ and he expressed hope that the Indian audience will definitely like his film.
