Pakistan cricket team: Former captain Rameez Raja has criticized the PCB’s decision to remove Shan Masood from Test captaincy and handing over the responsibility to Babar Azam. He says that it is wrong to blame the captain only for the defeat by giving a weak team. According to Rameez, good results come only from good players.

New Delhi. Former Pakistan captain Rameez Raja has criticized the PCB for removing Shan Masood from the Test captaincy for the upcoming tours of West Indies and England. Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has made Babar Azam the captain again and Rameez did not like this. He himself has been the former chairman of the Cricket Board. Interestingly, Babar captained the national Test team from 2020 to 2023.
Rameez said on his YouTube channel, ‘You give them an ordinary Test team and then expect good results from them.’ He said that Babar will also have to face similar challenges. Babar has been made the Test captain in place of Shan for the upcoming tours of the Caribbean and England.
Lashing out at the PCB officials, Rameez said, ‘If I were in Shaan’s place, I would have lodged a written protest with the board that when a captain is continuously given a group of ordinary players, then how can you expect good results? If the standard of the Test team is not good then how can the captain alone be responsible for it?
Shan was removed after captaining Pakistan in 16 Test matches from December 2023, in which the team had to face 12 defeats. Senior selector Aaqib Javed has blamed the outgoing captain for recent poor decisions. Rameez does not agree with this. He says that a captain is only as good as the players given to him. Pakistan team will leave for West Indies on July 13 where they will play two test matches. The team will then travel to England for three more red-ball matches in August and September.
