New Delhi: It has been decided that the opening match of the upcoming season of Big Bash League will be held in India. The match will be played at Chepauk Cricket Stadium, Chennai. PM Modi has announced this during his Australia tour. At the same time, now the news is coming that Cricket Australia has given an open invitation to BCCI that they can organize the Indian Premier League matches in their country.
According to the report of The Sydney Morning Herald, Cricket Australia has given an open invitation to BCCI to organize IPL matches on Australian soil. If this happens, then it will be the first foreign IPL match in the history of the tournament. The report states that private talks are already underway between the two boards, with Cricket Australia hoping the idea will gain momentum.
The opening match of BBL will be played on 12th December.
However, both BCCI and Cricket Australia have not officially commented on this report. Chennai is ready for the historic BBL opener. As part of the new India-Australia sports cooperation roadmap, Melbourne Renegades will face defending champions Perth Scorchers on December 12 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. This game will be the first match of any foreign franchise T20 league to be played in India and will be an important moment in the global expansion of cricket.
The eight-team Big Bash League, traditionally played between December and February, is considered one of the strongest domestic T20 competitions in the world after the IPL. At the same time, organizing BBL matches in India will also help in strengthening political relations with Australia.
