If you have studied Sanskrit till 10th and dream of becoming a doctor, then now is a chance for you too. Central Sanskrit University (CSU) has announced the Pre-Ayurveda (NEET-PA) entrance examination for the academic session 2026-27. Through this examination, students will be able to start studying to become Ayurvedic doctors.
You will get a chance to take admission in BAMS after 10th.
Central Sanskrit University has started a new Integrated Pre-Ayurveda program for Sanskrit students. To take admission in this course, students will have to appear for an entrance examination called NEET-PA. After successful in the examination, students will study in Ayurveda Gurukul and later on will be able to obtain BAMS degree.
The course will be completed in 7 and a half years
The entire course will be of total duration of 7.5 years. In this, the first 2 years will be pre-Ayurveda Gurukulam studies. After this, 4.5 years BAMS course will be conducted. Finally, one year compulsory internship will have to be done. After this students will be able to start their career as Ayurvedic doctors.
Who will get the chance to apply?
Only those students who have passed 10th from a recognized board, state Sanskrit board or its equivalent board will be able to apply for this entrance examination. General category students should have at least 50 percent marks. Whereas a minimum of 40 percent marks has been fixed for SC, ST, OBC and disabled category candidates.
what will be the age limit
The age of the applying candidate should be minimum 15 years and maximum 25 years by 31 December 2026. The university has made it clear that no category of candidates will get relaxation in the age limit.
When will applications start?
According to the university, the online application process will start from the third week of July 2026. The entrance examination will be conducted in the last week of August or the first week of September at designated examination centers across the country.

How will the entrance exam be conducted?
NEET-PA exam will be conducted on offline OMR sheet. The exam time will be two and a half hours i.e. 150 minutes. A total of 120 multiple choice questions will be asked. 1 mark will be given for every correct answer and there will be no negative marking on any wrong answer. The examination will be conducted in three languages Sanskrit, Hindi and English.
What is included in the syllabus
The university has also released the exam syllabus. In this, subjects related to Sanskrit literature, grammar, philosophy, Puranas, history and Indian Knowledge Tradition (IKS) have been included. Questions will be asked on the basis of these subjects only.
Approval received from NCISM
This entire program is recognized by the National Commission for Indian Systems of Medicine (NCISM). In the same year, Central Sanskrit University and NCISM also started a special portal to connect Ayurveda Gurukuls. Now this new system is being implemented with the announcement of entrance examination.
