Team India’s T20 captain Shreyas Iyer

New Delhi: Indian captain Shreyas Iyer termed his team’s performance as very poor after the 125-run defeat to England in the third T20 match and said that such performance is absolutely unacceptable. India has not yet won a single T20 match under the captaincy of Iyer. Its performance in the match played on Tuesday was very disappointing when the team, while chasing the target of 202 runs, was out for 76 runs in just 11.4 overs and had to face the biggest defeat in terms of runs.

Iyer said after the match, “It was very disappointing, losing by such a big margin is not acceptable.” First of all we have to accept the defeat and make a new strategy. With this victory, England has taken an unassailable 2-0 lead in the five-match T20 series. The fourth T20 match will be played in Bristol on Thursday and the final match in Southampton on Saturday. The first match was canceled due to rain.

Shreyas Iyer looked disappointed with weak bowling

Iyer believed that the bowlers should not have given 200 runs on this pitch of Trent Bridge. He said, “I don’t think it was a 200-wicket pitch. We lost four wickets in the powerplay and that is why we fell behind. No matter how much planning you do, once you enter the field you have to adapt to the circumstances. I felt it was difficult to hit shots on hard length and we were not able to execute it properly.

The Indian captain said, “We will no longer have to think about the past and will have to make a strong comeback.” Each of our players will have to consider how he can contribute.
