Graham Gooch scored a brilliant triple century in the first innings. He played an amazing inning of 333 runs. Gill scored a total of 430 runs in the match by scoring 269 runs in the first innings and 161 runs in the second innings. Gill definitely had a chance to break Graham Gooch’s record, but he missed it by 27 runs.
Apart from Gill, Gooch and Lara, Mark Taylor and Sri Lankan legend Kumar Sangakkara are also included in the top-5 list. Taylor is at third place with 426 runs and Sangakkara is at fourth place with 424 runs. Australian legend Taylor had scored these runs with his unbeaten inning of 334 runs against Pakistan in 1998. He scored 92 runs in the second innings. At the same time, Sangakkara registered his name in this record book by playing innings of 319 and 105 runs against Bangladesh in 2014.
