Germany Visa Interview: Talking about studying abroad, Germany has today become one of the most favorite countries for Indian students. The biggest reason for this is that tuition fees in German government universities are almost negligible. To get a student visa for Germany, you have to prepare some important documents. First of all, you should have admission letter from a German university. Along with this, APS certificate is also required, which verifies your Indian education documents. This is mandatory for all Indian applicants from 2022. Apart from this, health insurance, passport, language test Gismels, TOEFL or TestDaF certificate and a cover letter in which you write your study plan are also required.

From January 2025, Germany has made the entire visa application process online. Now the application has to be made on the Consular Services Portal i.e. digital.diplo.de. First you create your account on this portal and upload all the documents online. The officials first check your papers online, then you get a link for an appointment at the VFS centre. The visa fee is around 75 euros i.e. around Rs 7,300. It can usually take 6 to 12 weeks to get a visa, so apply at least 3-4 months before the start of the course.

What is asked in the interview?

Apart from registration and depositing fees, it is also necessary to appear for interview. The visa interview takes place at the German Embassy and usually lasts 10 to 15 minutes. In this the visa officer wants to see whether you really want to go to study or not. In such a situation, this question arises in the minds of many people as to what will be asked in this interview. These questions are usually asked in interviews:

  • Why did you choose Germany for studies? Here you will have to answer by linking it to the quality of education in Germany and your career.
  • What is your course and why did you choose this university?
  • Where will the education expenses come from? Tell us about blocked accounts and family support.
  • What will you do after studies? Will you return to India or stay in Germany?
  • Where will you stay in Germany? Keep information about hostel, rented house etc.
  • How is your past studies related to this course?

Remember to always speak the truth in the interview, be confident and give direct and clear answers. Do not give rote answers.
